How can you tell if your car has leather interior or vinyl ? I believe the V12s came with leather as standard. Was it optional on the US 4.0l ? Most of the US cars l see have really bad front seats. In fact most are so split that the foam is showing and the rear back covers are so thin and torn.

Don't know if it was different on US-spec cars, but UK XJSs did not have vinyl facing on the seats. It was either leather or cloth. The difference in the 4.0 is that the back and sides of the seats are vinyl, but the facing is leather or cloth. V12s had more leather on the non-facing parts of the seats, and areas such as the front lower corners of the door cards etc.
