Default Lister XJS-V12

I may take the dive here. A older gentlemen 73 years, is selling his Lister XJS FOR $1500. He is the third owner, and has had it for 9 years. I spoke with him for about 1/2 hour on the phone. The car is 2 hours away from me. My concern is the gas tank. It needs replacing or fixing. I did a search for these tanks, they are not easy to find. I am supposed to get a few pics tomorrow.
Here is the listing,
Moving to BERMUDA, So must sell 1986 Lister series Jaguar xjs-v12. All mech. are in good shape. All serv. records provided. Has full compliment of LISTER accessories, inc; full ground effects ,spoiler,BAA 16 inch wheels, body badges, inter. steerin.wheel, shift knob, decals. Runs super, 2yr. old Dunlop 255,ZR60,16 sport 2900 series tires. 2 yr. old mini triple color flake black /silver accent. Tan leather int. Needs gas tank, but drivable. Runs FAST &SMOOTH.

Thoughts? Advise? Comments?

Just what I wanted too, and just what I didn't want to hear.

my 78 XJS needed a tank.

hard to find that are any good , so i bought a new plastic fuel cell from Jegs racing . less cost than used tanks. and last forever.

check the small auxialiry just below main tank, i had to replace it also.

hope this helps, some times you gotta do it better than the factory.

I have this car. I bought it from Tom but things have changed for me and would consider selling it. Tom was spot on in his description and besides some small body spots the paint was new and so were the tires. I have all the documentation including the owners manual and the car does run extremely well. It needs a power steering line.

I have done work to it so I am looking for more then 1500 but not much. My phone is 617-429-eightfourtwoeight

I'm a fan of the unadorned XJS look (no spoiler or leaper), but I can dig something different. Nice find, especially at that price!

I don't recall, did the Lister variant include performance mods, or is it strictly a visual package?

That post for the car was back in July and he only posted 5 times total all within two days. I suspect he is gone and possibly already sold the car?

Default Still have it

Hey guys.

Sorry for the silence. Yes I do still have the car. I am down to asking 2K for it. I just want it gone. I have zero time for it. I did a power steering rack, and a new lower column in it to fix the steering issues. I also have buffed the car out. It looks pretty sharp. It is on the road now and is stored in my heated garage. I have two parties coming to look at it tonight, send me an email if you want to make arrangements too.

Thanks

I wish I had the money right now, I'd make the 2+ hour trip and haul it home!

Somebody needs to buy this. Doral300sc - how urgent is the fuel tank replacement? Would you drive the car from Maine to Houston, TX?

I'm open for adoption if you decide it really needs a good home! LOL!
Actually, I'd give it to my 83 year old dad. He's always wanted one, but can't afford to buy one now that he has basically nothing from Social Security and his military pension. Poor guy has to work full time at Walmart to make ends meet!
