..and heck NO! Don't let it go to "the yard in the sky"!!
Maybe it's because I've been working on mine for a year, replacing engine, wiring, etc...but I can't stand to see a running XJS let go!

I am afraid it will be another XJS that needs welding and paint, I already got one of these.
Why don't you put in eBay, it will bring $3K easily, just because of the fancy skirts.

That is definitely NOT a TWR body kit. It is in fact an EARLY/1st generation Lister body package.

Here is a limited edition print I have of one of these 1st gen Listers:

Some great pics of an '86 1st gen Lister XJ-S can be seen here:

1986 Jaguar XJS Lister for Sale - Gateway Classic Cars

Here are some examples of Ebay auctions for articles/magazines featuring the early/1st gen Lister XJ-S:

1986 LISTER JAGUAR XJ-S ***ORIGINAL ARTICLE / ROAD TEST | eBay

Motor 24/3/1984 featuring Lister Jaguar XJ-S HE, Triumph | eBay

ORIGINAL 1984 ROAD TEST - Jaguar XJ-S 6.3 Lister XJS | eBay

The later, more extreme 2nd gen Lister XJ-S, called the Lister "LEMANS" XJ-S, had more extreme body modifications—flared front and rear fenders, down-sloped hood, rear spoiler integral to the flared rear fenders. The picture XKRacer posted is of this later version of the Lister-modified XJ-S.

In both cases, when the car is a real Lister the engine is highly modified. In other words, a "real" Lister is NOT just a body kit or body modifications.

That said, if someone wants the look of the early/1st gen Lister, the body kit can be purchased from Captain Jaguar's Cathouse, who also owns the rights to the Lister North America name (which they were formerly known as) for about $1600 here:

Jaguar ground effects

Click on the '86 Lister full conversion link, and notice that the TWR/Jaguarsport ground effects look completely separate.

When selling a car with an early Lister body kit, it should really be identified as an XJ-S "with a Lister body kit," not as a Lister. An XJ-S should only be labeled as a true Lister when it came from Lister as a fully modified car (engine, suspension, body, etc.). If this car were a real Lister, it would easily add 5K or more to the price of a normal XJ-S, depending on the condition of the engine. The original ad clearly identifies this car as being one that someone converted TO LOOK LIKE the early/1st gen Lister, but is not actually a real 1st gen car from Lister itself. It is worth whatever a normal XJ-S would be worth in its present condition, plus the depreciated value of the added body kit. Used early Lister body kits, in the rare case they come up for sale detached from the car, usually go for around $500-$800, depending on the condition, since as I posted above new kits can still be ordered for $1600. If new kits weren't still available to allow one to convert their car to a 1st gen Lister look-alike, the value of a used kit would of course be higher.

You're very welcome. I've done extensive research on body modifications available for the XJ-S. Another kit that is VERY similar to the 1st gen Lister body kit (so similar the Lister kit may have been used as a base and slight mods made) can be had from Hyper Transformations, who just recently licensed a guy in the states to produce their body kits. Many XJ-S racers in the UK have these kits.

Even if it isn't a true Lister or a TWR, it's a nice looking car that runs! That's more than I can say for mine which I'm about to give a liberal dose of C4...

Maybe Spyhunter2k should start a thread and post pics of all the known XJ-S body kits...

One of these days I will, but it takes a while to load so many pics and spare time is at a premium right now...

I think that's a stellar idea, but I can see how it would be very time-consuming.

I once saw an early XJS Lister give a works BMW Csl 'batmobile' a great race at Mallory Park, BRG with yellow stripe as per the pictures. I suspect it had the suspension alterations from Lister, along with a few engine tweaks.

The car 'Racer posted is the halo Lister, called 'Le Mans' the last of the breed. That car was capable of 200mph, 4 up with the cd player on. A spectacular car I was lucky enough to drive one. The owner required a new wing mirror so rang Lister, who informed him it was £1000, turned out it was optimized for airflow.

Either way, the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust will confirm if it is a genuine car. They are rare, more so than the Jaguarsport version.

To the Owner...

*from memory* does the bonnet badge have 3 scimitars on a yellow badge instead of the Growler?

Le Mans for sale, have a peek, you know you want to..

I came across a "1990 Lister LeMans" posted for sale in Hong Kong, asking approximately US$87K.

Read about this model in this forum before, but have never a real one before, but the one in the pictures looks really stunning.
