Looking for a running v12 engine
I am in the market for a running 86/88 Jaguar XJS V12 engine and transmission anywhere in the state of Florida. The vehicle's body and interior could be trash, I don't care. I only want the engine/transmission and all of the anciliaries. I want to see and hear it run prior to purchase. It does not have to run perfectly, just as long as it can run for 10-15 minutes I am not interested in one that has been sitting for years and does not run. I will also consider a running inline 6 cylinder engine/transmission as a last resort. If anyone anywhere in the state of Florida has one that fits my criteria please PM me.
Thanks
Thanks

I suspect you’re going about this the hard way ( not sure, don’t know your ultimate goal)
Easy way? Go on line to Co-part and pick out an engine. They will guarantee it for you.
I buy non running engines because they are so much cheaper $100-500 and 98% are mechanically solid. Especially if you put a wrench on it and see if it turns over smoothly.
If it’s dropped a valve you’ll hear the clanking and that’s one you don’t want.
Now if you’re going to adapt it to something other than a stock Jaguar, you’ll need either a Megasquirt or the factory ECU with wiring.
Go on U Tube and find Timeless automotive’s one. I think it’s Megasquirt V12. He caused himself a lot of extra work by his Rube Goldberg gas tank arrangement. So ignore that.
Basically hook up a few wires and provide 30 psi of fuel pressure. Crank it over and it will start. It’s self learning so in time it will smooth out and run decently.

Even though I stated in my "FREE PARTS" post that I was done with heavy duty work on Jaguars, a complete rust free 87 XJS fell into my hands. The car is very straight with everything except the drive train assembly and the electrical harness from ECU to the engine bay. The car has been sitting in a well ventilated garage for the past 5 years. The PO was planning to do a GM conversion but was unable to complete the job. What I am looking for is an XJS running drive train. I don't want to rebuild anything, just repair/maintain the running drivetrain.
I do not want one that does not run. I want one that is totally rusted out but the drivetrain intact and running.

So you want a near 40 year old running car ?
And it’s got to be running so you know it’s good? I mean you don’t want to take any chances do you? Cheap? Or cheap enough to make the deal profitable?
My 1985 I paid $500 for it. Complete rust free Southern California car. Nice interior. Carpet on the floor wasn’t the original wool factory one. But what the heck.

One other option you have is the 2 insurance sites. . They list cars by year make and model. The engine in a XJS is also the engine in an XJ12.
Pick one that is smashed in an accident and you know it was running right up to the accident.
Depending on where the car is you may buy it yourself or you may need to go through a broker.
If damaged severe enough a bid $100 over the value of 4000 pounds of scrap metal is likely to win the bid.
