Are they for a SBC build?

Stress on the rods and rod bolts peak at TDC and BDC, and exponentially increase with RPMS. These stresses are far greater than those seen on the power stroke of the engine. Therefore, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on rods unless you plan on running very high RPMs. If you plan on having a shift point of 7k RPMs, then it's money well spent.

it's for a stroked out 6.8 v12 and I want to put good rods in this motor as I am planning on.eventually putting over 550hp through it. and my shift point is roughly 6-6.5k rpms

the rods are overkill but id rather be safe than sorry anyday

I see - sounds like an interesting build! Are they off-the-shelf rods or custom pieces?

Lunati generally makes quality parts. We've had good experiences with their SBC cams and cam kits.

Where there any specific issues you were wondering about?

Hm, yea I don't think it's really going to matter that much. Both are going to be plenty strong and light for your application. I think the distinction starts to become important when you're pushing the engine to the absolute bleeding edge.

Make sure you post some pics up when you get rolling so we can see the build!

they are off the shelf rods. they are a step up in quality from eagle or scat rods. which I think Is worth it. then I will be using custom forged pistons from race tech

I knew I read a great article on aftermartket rods. find a Hotrod magazine copy dec 2012. lists 16 differant rods, weights, costs, pin and big end weights, rpm/hp range etc.... and both Scat and Eagle offer rods above the standard Lunati H beam. Find the article, its a great comparison

yeah they do, but the price goes way up. and eagle and scat don't sell individually which is a requirement when there is 12 cylinders. buying two sets of two goes way over the budget limit I have

FWIW, I used Oliver forged I-beam rods for my LS1 build. Very happy with them - they were a great value!
