Default wiper motor bin drainage

Good morning team,

matter relates to a 1984 HE.

can anyone enlighten me in connection with the routing / drainage pipes etc from the windscreen wire motor bin.

page number in the parts catalogue would be greatly appreciated.

water enters the cabin below the scuttle. This seems to be coming from the wiper motor bin since the windscreen seals are OK and no other external drainage points seem to be present.

many thanks in advance for your assistance

best regards

The wiper motor plenum has left and right drains. The drain pipes (rubber/metal combination as I recall) run forward along the left and right inner fenderwells so the water drains out in the general vicinity the right and left front wheels.

Pour some water into the plenum. Within moments you shold have two puddles on the garage floor.

Water in the cabin might be coming from the climate control case. Condensation, which naturally accumulates, is supposed to be drained out via drain tubes at the bottom of the case.

With the car safely elevated you can see the drain tubes poking thru the floorboards on either side of the transmission tunnel, just aft of where the engine and trans join together. Gentle poking with a bit of stiff wire usually clears the clog.

Depending how much ugly glop is in the bottom of the case (waiting to slide into the drain tubes) the drains may clog again, requiring 2 or 3 repeat wire pokings over the course of a few days

Do NOT stand directly under the drains while clearing them....unless you want to get drenched with about of quart of smelly water

Cheers
DD
