Default Marelli Power Modules

In another thread VancouverXJ6 was nice enough to post the following link to less expensive and compatible Power Modules:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Mo...-/332308467776

In looking at the listing it was interesting how many different makes and models use these modules. Which got me searching just modules regardless of car make.

I came across these Bosch modules:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Genuine-BOSCH-0227100200-ICM-Ignition-Module-MTR04-Porsche-911-Ferrari-USA/193441994530?epid=76813184&hash=item2d0a0a9722:g:l mIAAOSwn01cD3F2

The listing doesn't state that it is compatible, nor could I find references on the 'net that there is any cross compatibility between the two. However, it got me wondering, what exactly does the Power Module do? This is from the Factory Marelli Supplement: "The Power Modules switch the low voltage coil circuit to ground when signaled by the ECU"

So here is my question, would the Bosch or other modules work if they had the same 7 pin plug? Or is there something unique to one Module versus another?

Somewhere in the vastness of my desktop pc I have a diagram showing what pin does what on Jaguar cars, you CAN I believe take similar ones and rearrange your harness to fit it's layout of pin/functions.

don't quote me on that. But given the issue with finding plug&play units a backup with a easy to follow writeup would be nice.
