Mine came OEM without one and runs perfectly, I did try fitting one and it seemed to affect the silky response of the engine, so off it came. I would not bother with it.

Just try the car with and without and see if there is a difference, and NEVER throw anything away!

I know it's been a couple weeks since I checked back in but I do appreciate all the responses to this thread. I hope to update with progress soon.

beautiful motor!

I'm a sucker for turbo 4cyl motors, here's mine in my 240sx, I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread.

The manifold was made using mandrel bent 4" tube and plate. 57mm turbo, 90mm throttle body, 750cc injectors. I'm currently building a new crank case vent system as you can probably see.

Hah,

Greg, I've learned that lesson after building a few vintage motorcycles, unfortunately.
