Default My work in progress :)

Finished the air intake mod today and the car drives so much better. At first the goal was to have mare growl but that didn't really change much... you can hardly notice the difference. But the car now is much more responsive and lowers gear much faster when flooring the pedal... The only thing that changed is the idle, now only at 500 revs, before the mod it was 750 revs.

I was going to make tubes and install K&N cone filters but when I saw all the tubes and wires attached to the standard air filter boxes, I changed my mind and removed the trompets and made larger holes. I opened the holes up to 80mm and installed 2 pvc tubes on both sides.

Making cold air intake is the next step, but first a few other things like moving the horns, ... tons of things to do

In the photo taken from the above/right side, there is some red around the wheel well. Is that just a reflection?

And why is your leather so darn clean??? :-)

What year?

Very sharp vehilce!

The red reflections are bandages on the typical jaguar wounds i took care of most of the rust problems on the usual places! Just red primer over the filler.

It's true the leather is in very good shape but i will remove them from the car and give them a thorough clean though...
There is hardly any work on the interior instead for the trunk with the unfortunate gaz smell after that has been taken care of, i will install new carpets and woofer on both sides of the trunk...
I also bought an original TWR bumper kit that needs some attention, but I will store them for a while. I will leave the bumpers on with the rubbers removed and will fabricate a custom chrome bumper myself...

Best regards,

Frederik

Lovely looking XJS.

You had me fooled for a minute with the UK plates.

@JCR, with this series, F prefix = 1988, start with A in 83 and move forward 1 per year, note no I or O. helps us tell at a glance what year the car is most likely to be.

Yes, car still has the English plates, because I've bought it in UK. It's an '89 XJS... I will drive car only next year! If I MOT car this year in Belgium, it wil cost me about $5000 for tax, if I wait till car is 25 years old, then MOT will only cost me $70 so I have 1 full year of restoration before the car will be in use!

I will remove plates next week.

greetz,

Frederik

Yes, you are so right Gregh, and knowing that is just one of so many rediculous rules and laws...

Hi Frederik

I've got a 25 year old XJS that I have been using for spares because in the UK its worth nothing.

How much do you think I could sell it for in Belgium if it was running?

hi,

The problem is that in Belgium we have the steering wheel on the right side and not on the left. I don't mind because Jaguar is an English brand and it gives more attitude to the car, but only a few think like that...

I've found cars that do not pass MOT and would be sold for £500-£750 (€1000)...

Hey, you could sell the parts of the car? wouldn't it be nice that there is a section where people can offer parts of cars here on the forum?
Like in one of my posts, I mentioned that I'm looking for an oil radiator...

greetz,

frederik

The Steering Wheels in the UK are on the right hand side, if that is what you meant?
