HI mish, i dont have any still pix of restoration, all on video VHS.

stiffining for roadster, i added a center bulkhead just behind the seat, about 15" tall 1/8 steel plate, welded to rear of door uprights, then a ladder setup of 1" square tubing, where rear seats were, it is very ridgid in rear section of car, added 3" round tube welded into rockers front to rear.

BUT it does have some flex or cowl shake, all cars without a top have shake, newer platforms are much better , but still shake some!

the video goes to the new buyer, its interesting and boring at the same time, sorry no copies available.

Ron good luck on your project!

Did you tie that rocker panel tubing into trailing arm plates, or just left it along the inner rockers.
I used triangle along the inner rockers, cos it sits snug to the lower seam and now car can be jacked up anywhere along the body.
Still working on the trailing arm mount plates, just replaced the passenger side...

HI mish, i dont think it will make much difference how you stiff the car (unless you are gonna race it on track).

then it should have a roof, and stff as possible.

mine weighs in at 3360lbs, 1/2 tank fuel, no driver.

dynod at 325Rwhp, goes good enough for me!

the V12 jag is a great motor, but hard to get serious hp out of!

Thx Ron

She is still not done, but little closer to being structurally sound.
Got passenger side trailing arm mount plate replaced. This side was not tampered with, but just as rusty.

Your car is going to be aces when you're done with her. I love what you're doing with her, I have an '82 that I'd love to do a ground up restoration on, and the pictures you're posting are extremely helpful with my planning. Keep 'em coming, you're doing some damn good work!

Edged me out, 2/78. Predating standardized VIN amuses me though.

Not much, just this:
Air injection rails and ports - removed, pump gutted.
Evaporative System - removed
Electric Fan conversion, with BMW E39 parts
Cat removal + Walker Exhaust.
UK version of ECU installed

No hard mods though, all external stuff, plus bunch of maintenance and tuneup, like new head gaskets, chain, pump, thermostats and such...

Well, this thing is made of gold now, but it is too late to stop... I suppose my kids are gonna have one hell of a fight, who gets it, in 20 years, but not sooner
I she is half in primer now, will post some pics later on tonight, next step is aligning doors and making good gaps, cos these were hand built and new doors are from 1989, so nothing fits out of the box.
All cavities are already drilled for rust proofing wand insertion, soon she will be pumped full of yellow mist on the inside.
Today we are doing front axle rebuild, with all new joints, shocks and rubbers...

hi ! Mish,, odd how a $2000. dollar car can go to $5000. easy, and before its over , im betting it will be $20,000. if completed properly.

like rear end assembly , change gear ratio, all bushings and suspensin mods, shocks, good ones, fuel system upgrades, 4 or5spd trans with overdrive.

and complete redo of interior, good seats.

and then comes the V12 overhaul,, race cams, hi-comp pistons, ported heads, ported manifolds ,hi-flow exhaust new, upgrade ignition , redesign cooling system, ETC.

HMM, change wheels and tires. not required but stands out in the crowd.

and a good base coat= clear coat paint system, can run into seroius money.

yes,, i can see the costs go up,, but like i said ya just gotta LOVE the darn things.

do we possess the car,, OR does the car possess us??

I suppose, It is like bad marriage, to a hot hooker, she takes you for all you are worth, but just looking at her makes you wanna spend more! LOL
I hired local "talent", who's been on and off wagon, so now I can concentrate on my business, while overseeing his struggle at $12/hr

Here is what I got done this week.
Front end is down, motor and frame is being cleaned and refurbed, before new axle goes on. Please note how good inside the frame rail looks. I replaced one piece of metal, because it had some funny wrinkle on it, rather close to the front end mount.

P.S. Please do not tell me that I'm crazy, I am already told, twice!

Mish this is just what these cars do to you, I wasn't crazy until I started my rebuild. Just keep at it and it will be worth it when finished.

cheers
