Nice work Mish. There is one job that will never need doing again. do you have the camber adjusting hook and tube for front and rear alignment?

They are for setting ride height. The hook is for the rear and tube for the front. The XJS is wheel aligned at a set ride height.

I have attached details for the hook and an extract from the ROM.

Are you going to wheel align yourself or take it to a shop?

I plan on doing mine myself - it is not too difficult all you need are,
4 x concrete pavers a dozen or so vinyl floor tiles and some grease
4 jack stands
2 pieces of conduit about 1m wider than the car
string, a spirit level and camber gauge (you can do it without the gauge using Pythagoras)

I see no problem so long as they use the tools to set the ride height. Although $120 seems a bit cheap for an XJS if the alignment needs to be adjusted, remember you have had the thing apart and if every component is not in its original location (ie drive shafts matched with rotor and hub) the alignment might be out and is done with shims between the drive shafts and disk rotor. A painfully laborious job.

Know all about it, just did all kinds of measuring, when rear axle got assembled. I measured perfectly equal distance between tip of the hub and edge of the frame, it took factory 3 shims on one side and 3 and one slim one of the other.

and i set mine up with 2* negative camber, so hook tool isnt accurate, for my setup.

also when vehicle is lowered, changes some factory settings.
