Default Mystery Jaguar XJS

What’s going on everybody, new to the forum and I don’t know why I’ve had my fair share of Jags of the years and could’ve really used this forum for some help! Excited to be here though

Yesterday I was driving down a neighborhood in Long Island NY and saw a crazy car collection on some guys front lawn. Naturally I stopped and knocked on the guys door

long story short there was an XJS under a cover that he claimed to be an XJR-S....I am almost 100% certain that it is not

he claimed it to have been a customer car that he acquired the title to after he didn’t pick it up and that the 6.0 engine was still in there. I looked at the engine and it looked like a regular V12 to me...nothing special I don’t think

hes also claiming those wheels wheels to be apart of a special model but to me they just look like the wheels off of a 1996 Jaguar XJR

now the only thing throwing me off about this car is that the emblem on the hood says Jaguar Silverstone....I’ve never seen and XJS with a Silverstone badge has anyone else?

The VIN shows as an ‘89 XJS
SAJNY5845KC162017

the black headlight surrounds also threw me off a little

any ideas if this car is something special or if he’s just telling a tale?

The front badge is from the XK8 Silverstone.

It is possible that it is an XJR-S, IIRC the first 300 or so had the same 5.3 liter engine and later there was a 6.0 liter with a different fuel injection and engine management. For it to be 5.3 liter car, it would have to be an '88 or '89 MY (I think).

The wheels are the standard wheel from a 1996 XJR. There's nothing special, or unique about this car, other than the swapped out accessories.
