Need help - 1996 ABS Diagnosis
There is no way to pull the codes without a device that is specifically made to pull Jaguar ABS codes. Seems to be on the pricier hardware kits, as well as WDS/PDU.
You would need a special device designed to pull Jaguar specific ABS codes to get them. Other than the typical WDS/PDU, the Genrad GDS500/510 can pull them, as well as any of the expensive devices often found at repair shops. They tend to be very expensive though.
The Mongoose can read them too, but I have had random success with the clones. Perhaps the Drew Tech original works better? Still pricey.

This is the one I got. I emailed them before purchasing and they confirmed it could read the ABS codes.
If it works, great. I'd rather buy a tool that I can use again or sell to someone else than pay someone else to have all the fun.
If it doesn't work, I'll get my money back.
Either way - I'll let you guys know if it works.

ABS.. what I know about the late 1995/1996 abs system.
This system is more tradtional with a actual master cylinder assisted by a vacuum booster. ABS functionality is 3 hydraulic channel and an in-line addon to the hydraulic system. It's very simple and effective and offers much better feel that the earlier Teeves Mk 2 system.
If ABS light comes on immedially = one ore more defective wheels speed sensor... check with ohm meter.
If electrical harness is disconnected from the logic module there is a metal tab that will make contact and illuminate the ABS lamp also
If ABS light comes on immediately above 5 mph = bad signal from wheel speed sensors, clean tone wheels and clean metal filing from sensors.
If ABS comes on above 15 MPH and after about 30 seconds = Main pump circuit failure, Replace ABS logic module.
*** Alternately...you can carefully cut a hole in bottom of the plastic case right under the motor's electrical connection and resolder. The logic module can be removed with pump in place. Use a mirror to see the bolts.
This is a common problem,if you purchase a used one it's likely to have the same problem at some point. This is what happened to me and it drove me nuts. I purchased a replacement and it did the same thing. I cut both open and repaired them both. Then they were sealed with epoxy.
