Default new jag owner - joke is on me? "rookie prank"?

well... I decided to drive "classy-cat" today... went o drop my son to school, etc. etc.... I see that I need gas... I stopped at the gas station... to find that I cannot open the gas tank cap... is locked?

how do you unlock it? I don't see a latch/button to pull/press on the inside to open it.... I know it has something to with the car-locking mechanism...

I made it to work... but will need gas to go back some...

Any ideas?
Thanks

Should have a solenoid activated pin lock. Make sure your doors are unlocked first. Then if so, pull back the trunk liner by the gas door and youll see the solenoid on the filler neck, pull back the pin to unlock. If the solenoid has failed you can replace or unplug it and leave it unlocked

Thanks, Brutal...

other than unplugging it, is there a "proper" way to open it?

I remember that the first time that I put gas in it, I just pulled it open... then this time (2nd time)... I got the big surprise...

Thanks, again

I'm on my way to the parking lot right now....

finally i got to open the trunk... removed some "control panel" and got access to the pin... pushed it back... I could not unplud the actuator... it was too hard and did not want to force it....

I noticed that after I put gas, came back to office, etc... locked the doors - as usual by hand with the key as I don't have a remote - and the pin moved back to the locked position... I unlocked the doors and the pin unlocked... right now is back to the locked position... will wait and see at home what is the trick...

these cars really need to have an inner truck and gas cap release.... or is mine missing it?

Rama1200. I have the same year and model car. I don't have a remote either but read in owner's manual that the doors can be locked by holding the inside door handle out and moving the locking level (vertical level in front of the handle) back towards the handle. You should hear both doors lock as well as the boot and gas door. This saves wear on your key, I wore one out already. When you unlock the door with the key, all four items should unlock together.

she is a 94.... I'd figured that it has so many electric components that for sure it has to have something for the gas cap... I still don't see a lever inside (anywhere) to open truck or gas....

OK, I've checked my car's owner's manual and it says... "Fuel filler flap emergency manual release (Coupe) is a GREEN plastic strap and pull inside the luggage compartment on the left-hand side behind the lamp". The photo shown in the book does not show the remote CD changer, which is also located in this area. If you have one in your car, then you'll probably have to remove the panel surrounding the CD changer to find the pull.
