Very clever, and you touched on one of my pet peeves. And, apparently, one of yours as well ?
personally id replace or restore the original style or use wheels from a different jag. I just don't think aftermarket wheels look good on any jag personally though.
Yeah, lots of caution is needed in this area. There are many more aftermarket wheels that look "wrong" on a Jag than look "right"....especially older model Jags.
Cheers

well wheels and tyres are almost always referred to as that and rims are usually referring to a rim, which is just the edge of the wheel or RIMS as in 20" RIMS.
So i have a pet peeve about it because there isn't any reason to call them rims instead of wheels, its not easier or quicker its just incorrect. Add to this the fact that most of the time i hear it used people are discussing enormous stupid looking wheels which I dislike.
I don't really care that much just explaining why it irks me lol

Be careful on the aftermarket wheels / rims guys! You have to be sure you have good hub centric rings with the aftermarket wheels otherwise you will be vibrating like crazy as you go down the road...
I have gone through several sets of wheels on my 03 STR and although I liked my aftermarket Moda R6 wheels alot they just never really ran right down the road always a slight vibration.
Oh and no the wheels were not bent they were checked many times for true was just trying to get them centered on the hub that was teh isue even with the rings in place...
Just my 2 Cents...

I understand the problem with lug nut centered wheels. The hub boss type is better and more likely to run true, I believe.
I haven't priced re-chroming in Richmond, VA as yet, so I don't know what that option offers. I like the original wheels on my '96 so I may go that route. I do not intend to attempt to make the wheels the most noticeable feature on this car. No bling for me. Just conservative looking wheels as the original ones are.
First will be a repaint. Thanks to all for your comments.

The 15 spoke XJ8 wheels really show off all the $$ I invested in dimpled slotted rotors!
Cheers!

Rims versus wheels.
Back in the old days (heh heh) before one piece alloy wheels were commonplace, a *wheel* was comprised of a "rim" and a "center section". The rim (where the tire mounts) and center section (that bolts to the hub) were riveted or welded together to make a "wheel".
Going back even further to wood spoke wheels (or even wire wheels) you had a rim, a center section (or wheel hub, to some), and the spokes themselves. The three together made a "wheel".
A one piece wheel is simply a "wheel".
No big deal. Just a nomenclature thing, a little peeve. I don't lose any sleep over it . And in some circles....perhaps more in years past than today...."rims" were something used on the type of cars that most Jag owners wouldn't generally be too appreciative of. Sort of a cultural/regional thing ....in the area I grew up, at least....going back to the 60s.
Okay, Okay... I'll come right out and say it: the lowriders from the ghetto had "rims". Non-ghetto cars had "wheels".
Cheers

Not sure what wheels you have but if their condition isn't too damaged, you can find on ebay a company that will do a core swap for the same wheels you have but in chrome. Prices range and they have to ok your wheels as well. But they look amazing. Even the fugly starfish wheels look great chromed!!
