i seem to be from a different generation.

i try to never look back, always forward.

my 1st car a 1934 Ford roadster, one of the mods was to do away with original spoke wheels and install 1940 Ford disc wheels!

it just looked much more modern, and all my friends liked them also!

sorry no pix,Yikes that was a hundred yrs ago !!, not really, actually 64 yrs ago.

I don't think it's generational, nor forward vs. backward looking. Just the difference in tastes, that's all.

In my mind the XJS is an old design from the 70s. Minilite wheels were very popular in the 60s and 70s, so....well...you know where I'm going .

<shrug>

I think of it roughly along the same lines as wearing age-appropriate clothing styles. At 55 years old I'd look pretty silly with baggy pants and a backwards-facing baseball cap

I'm pretty sure that those wheels are Azev A's.
Pretty popular in the 90's.

Doug interesting comment!

seems some people want to move ahead into the future, and some want to return to the womb!

like saying i wish i could go back to when, but the reality is no one can ever go back, so the best way is forward and make the best of your time while you are here!

YES, i would love to go back to when you could buy a 1934 Ford for $50. bucks , gas for .18 cents a gal. but you and i know it will never in any life time , be possible!

OK i'm ranting,over&out.

Yikes!

I'm merely said that 70s vintage wheels might be a option to consider on a 70s vintage car, that's all. I was simply offering a suggestion. I didn't realize that doing so would result in a unsolicited critique of my personal philosophies on life in general

If you have a preference towards or feel obligated to modernize a 38 year design, I'm good with that. If you're happy, I'm happy!

If a person just happens to prefer the older look, I think that's OK, too.

Cheers

I like those Mini-Lite wheels!

The powder-coater just finished my wheels. Anyone care to guess which set of wheels are for my XJ6, and which set of wheels are for my buddy's 800hp Evo?

I've always liked minilites on small cars like this sweet Mk2 Cortina but have only seen a couple of photos of them on Jags. They seem to scale up pretty well.

I guess that on that little Cortina they look the part, but on an XJS? The XJS is just too magestic a car and the wheels should go along with its stature, whether new(er) or old(er). Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

What color did you have the 20 spokes coated in? They look awesome. I would like to do the same to mine.

Thanks! I should get down there to pick them up on Monday. The color is a light silver with a very fine metal flake. It is a two part finish - one part silver powder and one part clear powder top coat. The color is Cardinal Silver Metallic 30% Gloss T353-GR06. I believe Cardinal is the brand name.

I'll post more pics next week!

Got them home tonight. The finish is really nice and glossy - it's going to make the rest of my car look terrible!
