Default Newest Issue - ABS light

Ok, yet another things that I'm going to have to look into
and hopefully fix -- My ABS light is coming on. It comes on
(as it should) with the brake light when the car comes on
and goes off with the brake light after about 20-30 seconds.
However, after about 3-8 minutes of driving, it comes back
on and stays on until I turn it back off. I don't know if
it has anything to do with it but I've noticed an occasional
clicking behind the instrument cluster so far.

Where Should I start looking?

Put this with the list of things I need to fix and I'm
second guessing myself on getting this car. My hope (and
hopefully not vain) is that once I get these things fixed it
will be a matter of maintenance and not a constant battle of
mechanical whack a mole for all time.

BTW, here's the list:
1. ABS Light
2. Parking Brake system - doesn't work as a brake, randomly
functions with the top-stop function, dash light
disconnected, and is probably causing my brake light fuse to
blow regularly.
3. Rear suspension bushings - need changing
4. cruise control - in op
5. central locking - in op
6. parking lights - need to track down ground to see if that
fixes the fronts not lighting.

My ABS light came on a few times. I flushed the brake fluid and it seems to fix the problem. It's been a couple months. The ABS light has not came on (cross my figure).

Brake bleed was on the list to do as the fluid that is in it is getting to be darker honey shaded and inconsistent colouring. I'll have to see if that works.

Don't know if additional info helps but when I was doing long stretches of highway miles without using the brake much if at all coming back from Denver the light never came on. It did, however, if I hit construction and had to use the brake consistently often.

Sounds like the brake accumulator needs replacing. I just replaced mine. Easy job. Your just going to have to torque it to get it off. I had to use a strap wrench and an allen wrench with a pipe on top.

I had the same clicking sound behind the dash which is the pump coming on because the accumulator is shot. Its best to replace it asap so you dont wear your pump out.

If you have the teves system 2-4 you can source the part as buick reatta 1998 and get an equivalent accumulator that will work fine for about 150.

..we have the same car. ...so you can source out the buick accumulator.

I also have no power locks and no cruise control. Though I dont really care about this.

I have been having issues with the parking lights and tail lights going out. I traced the tail lights to the side relay under the bonnet and the parking lights to blown bulbs.

I also noticed that the engine ground right in back of the master cylinder on my car is completely fried. I think this has been causing my electrical issues. Lights flickering at times, etc. I'm going to replace it and see what happens. Other than that I went through the entire car and used deoxit on every connection and replaced all the bulbs. Now my radio goes in and out. I'm almost positive that all this can be traced to that damn fried ground going from the engine to the left fascia. Not sure what happend but its burnt to a crisp and just crumbled when I touched it. Maybe its too close to the hot engine exhaust?
