Newly resealed diff is leaking :(
Hi All,
When I had my rear IRS out the car and disassembled fairly recently I took the opportunity to replace the output shaft seals/bearings, reseal the diff cover, and basically clean up everything whilst it was accessible.
I've noticed a few drips of oil now appearing after 400 miles or so
. gutted.
It looks to be leaking from one of the output seals I redid, and also the breather port on the rear casing. Nothing substantial, just maybe 4 drips visible on the floor when parked overnight.
I';m just wondering if anyone else has encountered this with a recently serviced differential?
I used Fuchs Titan Race Gear 90 LS oil when I refilled it, and am wondering if this was perhaps too thin an oil, or perhaps I might have overfilled it slightly (From memory It took 1.6litres or so)

I first noticed the drips after driving quite fast in the recent hot weather we've had in the UK - could that be related?

Check the breather is not blocked. Sometimes they have a sprung loaded valve in them that requires a bit of pressure inside the diff to open. Get rid of that spring if so, and leave the breather open to air with the spring arrangement, but not the fitting it is part of, removed
