Default Non-convex door mirror glass

Hi,

I have a UK market car & the door mirror glass is of a convex/magnifying type & I really don't like it - I'm used to normal mirrors without any distortion.

Does anyone know if other markets (e.g US) come with flat mirror glass & if it is available online anywhere?

Asdrewq,

You haven't said what model you've got but assuming that you've got a facelift model, you can still buy a flat glass replacement from Jaguar. It's part number JLM10660.

Hoe that helps

I didn't know their were in convex versions, but it looks like most mirrors are all the same, so any used set will probably due. Maybe it is facelift cars?

I would take this opportunity to rant about how nearly no one adjusts their mirrors so they are useful anyway, but I will leave it.

My 88 has completely flat mirrors, if that info is helpful to you.

I believe most US market mirror are convex type. That's why they have the legal disclaimer about "vehicles being closer than...BLA BLA"

Well, nobody's yet mentioned what door we are talking about.
It is my understanding that the rule (at least in the US) is that drivers' mirrors must always be flat, meaning without any distortion so the view is perfectly accurate, but the passenger side mirrors are convex because the distance to the driver's eyes is too long and a flat mirror would greatly reduce the field of view to something useless.

Cheers,
