Normal idle speed xj16

You appear to be new, so WELCOME if already not done,
My AJ16, in an X300, cold starts at 1200rpm, and within 10 seconds is at 1000rpm, then slowly comes down to 800rpm within a further 20 seconds, and that is where it sits.
This is in "P" obviously, and it is stable as you want in "D" at 700rpm, with a/c ON, or OFF.
Mine is the HUGE 3.2ltr and Australian spec, so NO EGR, or much else for that matter.

Thanks for your answers, Spikepaga how much rpm is your xjs doing when cold. The one i looked at was doing about 1300-1400 in drive. We were driving just a small round in a parking. I had to keep my foot on the brake to keep it from speeding up. With the brake and the throttle released it even changed gear to second and kept speeding up. It didn't appear normal to me. But the last time i drove in a xjs is years ago.
The owner said it returns to normal when warm. Does this all sounds normal ? Thanks in advance for your reply.
By the way, when the xjs is bought i will introduce myself officialy with some pictures of the car.

Mine very quickly goes to the correct idle speed...within a minute of turning the car on.
The cars sometimes need to be reset by the Jaguar computer, and once that is done they will idle correctly.
I would absoluetly make sure that the car is running correctly at the correct idle speed, as this could be masking a misfire or other poor running condition
