Oil Filters
I changed my oil out this morning and I purchased a Hastings filter.
The filter I took out was a Bosch.
I couldn't believe the difference in size between the Bosch and the Hastings. I was absolutely sure I had the wrong filter, the Hastings had to be twice as large!!! Sure enough when I compared the two, visually, the gasket was in the same places, and the threading looked similar.
It's amazing the difference in size between filters!

Bosch lists two or maybe three different filters for the V12. I know one is the "long filter". years ago Jaguar itself offered a long and short filter before consolidating to a single part number, EBC9658....whch I recall is the shorter version.
I recall the filter on my '88 V12 being very close to the cat converter and difficult to remove. It's one case where smaller might actually be better. I dunno. I often wondered about how much heat the cat convertor pours into the oil filter and if an inch or so increase in clearance would make any difference.
Cheers
