Saw this '96 cabrio listed for $3k obo. Knowing how they are climbing in value it could be a great buy for somebody on the east coast.

“Acceptable” is in the eye of the beholder. $10k should net you something much more than merely acceptable.
I see these cars inaccurately described all the time. V6, awd, rare.... the guy probably knows little about the car. Certainly should be looked over carefully, but at $3k, it would be worth the time to look it over. It’s listed for local pickup, so the scam meter is definitely low.
The auction is over, so someone definitely picked it up. As long as that person knows they have another $5,000 to put into it, they still came out with a decent price.
