Default Opus conversion

Hi

I’m helping a friend with an 1984 XJ12, where some PO has changed the engine to a PreHE XJ-S engine. Engine number 8S17191HAZ.
it seems the ignition is dead. Signal goes into amplifier, but there’s nothing coming out…
Owner wants to convert to a more modern ignition. Which conversion kits can be recommended and which is more troublesome ?

TIA

What’s the budget? I used the SNG Barratt kit, which looks like Opus but isn’t. It will look like what you have, making the swap easy. Never let me down.

Least costly is a scrounged up Lucas CEI system, from a wrecked or rusty car of similar vintage to 84. Probably off an XJS and from USA. Try everydayxj.com You’ll need to figure out what is missing and kit it together yourself. It will be reliable but somewhat interesting to figure out.

The full luxury modern kit is from Ole Mobeck…https://mobeck.com/produkt/jaguar-v1...e-waste-spark/
No experience but considering it heavily for one of my cars.

I have this kit.

Lots of people have used these.

I don't know how it compares to other options. Hopefully someone will chime in.

$100 plus post.

Good luck,
Rob

I've had the Crane XR700 on a Mercedes before, and it is a really nice piece of kit for the cost and ease of installation. It is now marked under F.A.S.T. and Moss has a V12 Kit (which just means it includes the 12 slot shutter for the optical trigger).

It should be noted that the XR700 amplifier box works with a coil that has a ballast resistor. There is an XR3000 amplifier box that is almost the same price, uses the same interface bits, but can work with a coil that doesn't need the ballast resistor, and thus can be a lot lower Ohm rating for deeper charging and better spark at high RPM.

Otherwise Lumination makes a kit. 123Ignitoin makes a very expensive drop in distributer with timing you can set over Bluetooth.
