Default Outstanding Web Site to Find Used Parts

I entered my quest for a used alternator for an XJS. Boy, was I surprised when I received over 50 returns and prices ranging from $40.00 to $100.00; most about $50.00! The site list Salvage Yards all over the United Sates with location, telephone numbers, and prices.Well worth looking at: car-parts.com

I've looked on there several times, just never actually requested anything. There are a couple of junkyard sites out there. I can't remember if it's that one or another, but there was one that you can search by zip code and they "show" if any yards within x amount of miles have what you want and how much and a brief item condition description. I forget exactly which one that was though

The plus is you can assume they have a car or cars in their facility and you can ask for parts that are not listed or parts that are not high value. Fifty or more yards available, in some cases, with telephone and location is a good resource in the US and abroad.

just an FYI. Johns cars in texas has a GM alternator kit that gets rid of the oem unit and is more reliable if your interested. They also stock a lot of parts.

I use that site as a price check. I’m fortunate that I have a well stocked nearby Jaguar XJS salvage yard. Plus decades of collecting parts for my cars.
The real tragedy will be when my time comes I know my heirs will look at all the “junk” dad saved and call for disposal.

Car-part is great. I usually search for a Jaguar hood or whatever large chunk they list and then contact separately for whatever obscure bit I actually want. Once bought an already pulled TH400 for $75 from a place less than 100 miles away.

Another great guy is everydayxj.com. His prices are very very low! He has lots of XJS stuff even though the website implies it is primarily XJ6. He has parts listed for online ordering but anything you don’t see he has also so just write him.
