Default Owners of Hess & Eiesenhardt unite!

As We all know We have a very unique XJS and could benefit from each other as to parts ect. I could use some guidance on a replacement left window motor as mine is toast! Anyway please chime in, there's got to be a few of these Convertibles still on the road! Who knows maybe We can get a sub forum under XJS!

Smile Greetings from Czech republic

Hi,
I have XJS 5.3 HE, model 1988, H&E.
The start was here :
VIN: SAJNV5849JC147396 - Jaguar : XJS 88~1988~JAGUAR~XJS~CONVERTIBLE
Then this car was exported to Europe, Switzerland, there I bought it in 2013 and now is my lovely Jag in Czech republic.
I had a big problém. Previous owner fried engine. To death. Pistons, crankshaft, all was blue. So I must bought other XJS coupe (with good engine) and now I make overall restoration the car.
I have some problems with components there in Europe, but I think everything will be fine
Regards, Roman.

I have an 88 H&E as well that has been under amulti-year frame off restoration. Targetingend of 2014 completion (fingers crossed), in the end, it won’t be much more than the H&Eshell with the refinement of the Jaguar interior (mostly). I am affectionately “lumping” my XJS with arebuilt (slightly modified) lt1/T56 combination with a completely gutted/redesignedwiring and fuel management system. Love tofind other H&E survivors because we seem to be few and far in-between.

I have seen a few of the H & E XJS convertibles over the years. Nice looking conversion and the owners seemed to be happy with them. I do think the owners of these could benefit from keeping in touch with each other as certain parts are unique to this conversion but it seems like whenever a H & E owner has a issue they get good feed back and support on the forums. My understanding is they ran two fuel tanks in these which allows the top to be lowered further down then the factory but can be prone to leaks. Always a treat to see any XJS on the road.

Yup, H&E design used dual tanks so the convertible top would lay "flat" when retracted (imho looks much better) vs Jaguar's '89 design which has a "bump" when down. The design flaw was the setup did not vented properly and vacuum pressure would build up as your gas level decresed and due to pressure, the tanks could split. I ripped the entire factory design out and went with a 15 gallon, sumped fuel cell with an aeromotive fuel management system.

I have bought a handful of parts from http://www.paulsjaguar.com/ for my H&E (door sills, wiring harness, taillights, etc) and they are extremely knowledgeable about our special cars. The parts I bought were in top notice shape for a 20+ year old car and if they dont have it on hand, they can help point you in the right direction.

Default Bump 16 months later

1988 H&E XJS here, 49k miles, looking for a rear quarter window motor, or any information on the original OEM for that motor, since it's probably a US OEM part.

Anyone out there?

This thread is worthless without pics!

But yeah, I do love the H&E; much cleaner than the Jaguar convertible.
