Default Photo Needed of V12 Aux Coil Mounting 82-88 XJS

I am in the process of converting my 90 XJS from Marelli digital ignition. The wiring diagram for an 88 XJS has a chart of component location that indicates that the auxiliary coil is located on the radiator shroud. There does not seem to be enough room to clear the bonnet. Can I get someone with an 82-88 V12 XJS car to post a photo showing the location and mounting of the two ignition coils please.

They are on the frame immediately in front of the radiators and on the front of the throttle tower

You can now use a more up to date single coil that is capable of delivering the spark required at high RPM - which is why the two coils are needed ... See This Thread

Yes replace both with the single one.

from what i understand he is fully pulling out all the Marelli equipment, not just coils but looms and ecu for the engine and going to the lucas system ?

big job from scratch as there are different sensors and lots of other issues, doubt it will fire up the first try

Default Getting Closer

I have everything installed but need some clarification on connecting power to the ignition amplifier. The amplifier has two white and slate (or white and blue) wires with different connectors on the ends. One is for the power from the ignition switch and the other sends the signal for the Tachometer. Which wire connects to the 12 vdc from the ignition switch? Is it the wire with the round pin connector or the blade style connector? I assume the second connector is the Tach signal?

White/Slate = Tach and ECU
White/Black coil -Ve,
White Coil +ve

The white and slate are on different connectors as the resistors in the amp are different for each.

The connector plug that inserts on the right in your image is the distributor pickup.

So which one goes to the ignition - technically the white but it does so via the coil.
