Yes I know its an old car but I have just noticed that the rubber rooflock locating pin is missing from the top of the windscreen post. I believe that parts bcc 5578 and 79 are no longer available. They sometimes come up on Ebay. Also the window rubber seems to be hanging out. It looks like the ski slope has been recovered in black vinyl or painted.

Malc... yes will need to sort that rubber.

$13,800 USD. The NZ dollar has dropped. $21,000 NZD Have I said I am very pleased. Owner has said if I find rust other that that small spot, which he had not noticed and would have had it repaired.. he will refund my money!

Might as well keep this post running, I really enjoyed OB's post, individual question will be asked on separate site then added here.
Nice for a new bee to join my progress.
Next up is a car lift, nearly finished rebuilding a classic bike (4yrs) first job was build a bike stand that went up and down.
So plan is to do the same, I have found some plans and are in the progress of buying them. I could build them without from pictures but for 26pounds its worth getting them, know what strength steel to use, and not guess.
This is what I have planned. Nice and save for my skinny butt not to getting squashed.
I like the rear supports... so i will build them also. This set sold for 600 pounds second hand. I will build this for... who know time will tell but I can get SOME steel for free..work. Oh and I can weld which helps.

Best part is it all comes a part and will lay flat under the car, stands will go under the house until needed.
Here is a pic of the bike stand I built some years ago, car lift will use the same jack.
Bike lift could do with a clean... but you get the idea. Bike lift goes down to about 200mm and higher than I have needed.

So I am working on my new car ramps...needed some dimensions to get it right, read about people being squashed under cars and, thats not going to be me.
While off topic this is about my journey of owning an XJS..(still 4 weeks away) I want to safety get under the car.
I like OB's approach, spend money wisely, just for the chequer plate, cut to size $800. not paying that, so tomorrow I am getting (not sure what) but standard plate cut to length for bugger all, a mates friend (owns a large sheet metal company) felt sorry for me. $360 for the plate and $460 to cut it! Really. So tomorrow I'm getting plate cut not sure what I will end up with but no tread is ok, after all I'm not doing burnout on it. but if its cheap I am in. Wait for the update..
Free is good but less than $360 cut is a bargain.

My friends just look at me sideways, and say... really a XJS-V12 - were is your bowler hat.. old mans car!.. I am 48.. only 80 year old own these cars!

Worked out the current owner has deep pockets and just pays, does not do any work himself. But happy to pay which is great.. (time will tell)
The car has the deeded yellow fan, for $255 NZ I can get a Viscus clutch and black fan, thinking of buying them and courier it to the PO in CHCH and changing it before I drive 1200km home.
I will worry if i do not.... no idea the cost of a fan blade through the bonnet and taken out radiator.. plus.. but my estimations are huge $$$.

I have good hopes for the aircon..

As you can see from the exhaust tunnels there is no problem there and the floors are only surface due to getting wet when i leave the roof down plus in the early days the heater/Aircon did not work $4,000 later and leak testing in dark rooms its fixed. It provides heat and cool, but the noise from the fan if its on anything other than the first position is noisy

Y = rear overhang from tyre centre = 49 inches
Z you do not give enough data for AFAICS.
V = front overhang from tyre centre = 36 inches
I got quoted $400 for the plate and $400 to guillotine.. really. for chequer plate, I looked and I was not wearing a bra... my head is bald..... rip off@. Not paying that so I looked around and got a mate to go though a mate and bingo.... 3mm (same just not chequer) mild steel plate cut to size $200.
So good to go, Ordered 2 x 9m lengths of 60 x 60 x 6 angle for the edges.
Pictures as I go. not to many as this is a Jag site not a ramp build site! Long story short my ramps are under way!
