Please help!
Hi
Attached is a short 12 second video where you can hear which may or may not be a fallen valve. If you turn the volume up you can hear it.
car overheated. Was caught quickly. oil has been replaced.
I would really appreciate any input or thoughts. I am not going to drive the car until properly diagnosed. Sound cannot be heard at idle. I dont feel any loss of power but ofcourse its hard to tell i guess in a v12. Sound congruent with acceleration.
Please help me here guys.

Hi Doug
What would a dropped valve sound like exactly? The sound I hear is a very blatant ticking from the engine no doubt,. Only audible if I accelerate rather forcefully. And if I rev it at idle it's not at all audible. How loud would this be f a valve seat dropped due to overheating?
Scared out of my mind right now!

Thanks. So a fallen valve seat should have a rhythmic clacking noise not this sort of "prickly" ticky noise? And theoretically the idle should be quite rough ALL the time now? If I rev the car at idle in park no concerning sound, planning on trying when it's under load at idle.
Do You think I'd here this noise all the time when the cars running at any speed or any amount of acceleration if it was a wrecked valve? cause it's only upon acceleration.
Gosh I hope she's okay!

If it were a valve, you'd hear the noise with each closing of the valve. That would be a steady, rhythmic noise which would increase and decrease with engine RPM's.
I'm going out on a limb, but I'd suggest removing the tin heat covers off the exhaust manifolds and check for a cracked manifold or leaking gasket.

If this were a dropped valve, indeed it would end the engine in a catastrophic way. However if it is a dropped valve seat, the results would be much less spectacular.
