A bit confused..all 1992MY cars are facelift not HE. So that's all cars built after March 1991.
If your car is after VIN 179737 then it's a facelift.
Paul
i dont know if im wrong, but let me get it straight, i never said its not a facelift, i just thought it doesnt really matter all too much as long as its good old 5.3 v12, which is considered an HE engine, am i right? Its 1992 car, its a facelift, since it was facelifted in 1991, but its has 5.3 HE engine, because 6.0 was introduced few months later,
So yes, its 1992, its HE, and yes its facelift, but no, its not the one with 6 litre engine.
Hope this makes it clear)
Mouserider, Ah that explains it! Although they have the same basic engine, the facelift cars are not referred to, or badged, as HE because its a fundamentally different car with many other differences. So it's just known as a 5.3 facelift.
The item in your pic seems to be a cruise control pump, I think. Unless someone else chimes in, I'll look up the orientation of the vacuum pipes. Or you can just look at the diagram on Jaguar's parts website and it will probably explain it.

oh thanks for explanation, im still new to xjs world, but learning.
Thanks for the tip, i guess you referring to 2nd pic with black and orange line, but what about first one, which is not connected at all?
Hard to tell exactly with the photos so zoomed in, but, if in the second picture the holes I circled are for the coolant expansion tank then you are possibly looking at the vacuum line running to the charcoal canister located behind the forward LH wheel well panel.
It would help to see both ends of the vac line, rather than a centre section.

Can you take a better photo of the CC pump so we can better see those pipe fittings? Also is the pipe from teh dump valve connected to the pump? I can't see clearly in that photo.
Have you looked at the Jaguar parts website diagram to see the pipe connections?
