Trying to remove radiator....Can someone tell me how to disconnect this? I tried pressing the area highlighted with a screwdriver and doesn't seem to want to move...

The button to press is just below that yellow square, however, you're right, that is the spot that needs to be pressed down in order to pull this water tight connector apart. It probably hasn't been separated in 30 years, so it won't be easy, but you'll get it.

Do I put a screwdriver into the hole in the middle or just apply pressure to the entire area highlighted in yellow?

I think what you're telling me is use a screwdriver in area of first pic while using the second highlighted area to push apart?

Speaking of PM5 connectors, does anyone have a couple of red ones for sale? To twopumpchump, better to ask how than to screw it up. I've certainly screwed up my share of connectors while trying to figure out how they come apart.

Rick-As my dad used to say.."it's easy when you know how to do it" but before that point these things can be unbelievably frustrating...

Rick-

In regard to your query on sourcing PM5...my car is a DB7 and I am assuming this part was used for my car up until they went to the V12 in '98. There have been cases when the corresponding XJS part was not available thru Jaguar and I ended up buying the Aston Martin "OEM" which still had the Jaguar logo on it from Chiltern Aston or some other UK Aston Martin dealer...can't remember but may want to check with one of those guys...

Might be a two man job. One person keep pressing down on the square, while the other person pulls? Maybe get a flat head and try to jimmy that thing apart.

Rick,

I may have. I have an entire box of connectors I have taken off of parts cars including the H&E I disassembled a couple years ago.

Can you provide a picture of exactly what it is I am looking for?

Thanks Brad. The first picture in the thread is a PM5 connector. Red PM5s were used for front fog lights on my 1996. I've attached a photo of a connector that is the color that I am looking for and a picture from the Electrical Guide of the connector.

AFAIK PM stands for "Positive Mate" type "IV" connectors:

Good morning,

I went thru my box of connectors. Unfortunately I don't have very many red ones. I will attach a photo of what I do have.
I am not sure if what I have meets your request. I do have one that matches your picture of the red connector but I do not have a red connector in the style of the black one.
I will be at Welsh Jaguar in Ohio tomorrow picking up some parts. I could look there for you. Tell me where on the car and what years to look for.

Thanks Brad. I have a 1996 XJS and looking for the front fog light connectors. I specifically need the the half that attaches to the fog lights themselves. The car wiring halfs are already in place. I really appreciate you taking the time to look.

You know you can simply replace this connector with any 2 pin waterproof connection?

Might save you a lot of trouble?

Vee, I've already have connectors to do that, but I just want to get back to what was original. Thanks. Here's the story. I have original fog lights on my 96 (other things on this car are not original), but somewhere along the way the fog lights were removed from my all original 95 Coupe. I'm going to put the fog lights from my 96 onto the 95 and put a pair of fog lights that I bought back onto my 96. These are the same as the originals except for the connectors. If I can find the correct PM5 connectors it will just make things easier.
