Potentiometer Replaced; New Problem Uncovered
1996 XJS, AJ16
OK, so I spent the weekend replacing the potentiometer. I have attached a picture and I think that might have been part of the problem... Somoene, or something expanded the holes used to bolt that part in.
While in there, I recleaned the throttle body, the stepper motor, the EGR valve and I also reseated new gaskets to the spark plug cylinders.
Turned the car over and now I have a rough idle, but smooth drive. It no longer chugs at speed, but I was experiencing intermittent stalls.
I hooked it back up to the computer, and the MAF sensor was acting up. As soon as I unhooked the MAF sensor, smooth idle returned. The car was at temperature.
I guess I'll give cleaning the MAF sensor a go. If not, I think I'll have to look for a replacement?
Is there anything else I should be checking?

I just went through it and could find no leak.
I did get a P1316 code flash up! It's strange that it wasn't paired up with another code.
I will have to take it out for a solid drive and see if I can't burn out all of the solvents I used, either that or force that car to tell me which cylinder is causing the problem!
