Default Pre-facelift car, post-facelift seats

I was wondering whether anyone knew whether it's possible to install front seats from a post-facelift XJS into a pre-facelift XJ-S? I've been looking for seats and can't find any in biscuit, and I REALLY don't wanna have to dye a set. Any suggestions?

there is a company called GTS. The line, Nurburgring. A bit expensive, but they are new (modern) classic looking seats. And they are really REALLY confortable. They are used in many sport cars De Tomaso Panteras, 911s, 914s, TR6s etc.

The webpage is

You did not say if you wanted original or new.. but hope this will help you .

i believe the mounting locations changed by a few centimeters when they changed to the more sporty style seats in '89 but you might be able to make brackets to adapt them?

I put a seats from a 91 into my 83.

The width of the mounting points is narrower by 1". The front-to-rear length is the same.

In order to mount the seats I had to make some steel plates to move the floor mounting points closer together.

On the driver (left) side there is some inteference between the seat and the emergency brake cover, so for now I have removed the cover and will look at moving the seat over slightly.

Also, I retained the later model seat-mounted belt latch, so the old floor mounted latches were removed.

The newer seats have a power lumbar which I connected to 12V just to get them moved to a better position. I'll hook up a switch later. They also have heaters which I may not use (Florida).

Great.....I've got heated seats and power lumbar on my current seats. do the newer seats have any other power options? And how difficult was it to get them mounted overall?

Physically it was a bolt in and the entire job took an hour.

The plates I mentioned were simply small squares of 1/4" plate. I drilled one hole to bolt it to the floor mount. A second hole, drilled and tapped 1/2" inboard for the seat slider. I did that for all four holes so that the four holes were 1" narrower total.

After bolting those down, I bolted the seats on top.
