Default Quad headlight conversion for Aussie car.

My chrome headlight surrounds need replacing. I want to go to the quad US style lights. From you local guys is there a kit available or do I need to import from the US?
I have read about locally available set ups but can't seem to find them in any searches.

Clarke,

There were, YEARS ago, I looked, but did not follow through.

USA, Europe, etc and not the beam units. Cibie RHD beam units are in OZ.

Wiring "should" be OK, with standard watt globes.

Strongly recommend relays for HI, and LO beam circuits. That will take the load off the stalk, and the Hella clutching relay that is NLA, and if you find one, $$$ s/hand.

With H4 on the outer, and H1 on the inner, you will be drawing 10 amps per side on Hi beam. 5 amps per side on Lo beam.

SNG Barratt make a kit but it is pricey. A USA breaker is a good bet, or USA ebay. The USA lights are often old sealed beam units with the brightness of a glow worm. But as Grant said, new replacement RH dipping 158mm lamps are really cheap, and Osram or Philips latest brightest bulbs to go with them are really good.

After a few days of searching and making enquies I bit the bullet and ordered a kit from SNG Barret UK.
Yes pricey, but I got a bargain on the car so I can live with that. (and they are in stock)

Heads up, if you are not handyman with pacience this is not a job for you. Supposed to be a "plug and play " kit. No instructions in the kit, wrong conectors and the screw holes dont match up to the car body. Wiring colours are wrong and the mounting holes in the plastic chrome surround don't line up with the holes in the headlight body.
Two trips into town and 5 hours I have one in and working, second one for another day.

Grant, even the beers per job don't work, I had to resort to Gentleman Jack to get the job done! Not the best project to take on after getting home from a 12 hour night shift.

Good result in the end. First real job in the new workshop apart from an oil change on the XJ6, lubing bike chains and removing the IRS. I actually had to think about this job, not just routine like the others.

Nice work (and very jealous of your shed).

Job complete, second one only took two hours knowing what to expect. Only problem was the wiring on the left side of the care is opposite to the right. Somewhere along the years the high and low beam wires had been swapped over at the relay so I had one light on high beam and the other on low. All sorted now.
First project on the goose and in the new shed complete.
