Default Rattle / Feedback in Column

Hello,

I have a strange rattle. Over bumps, the steering shaft feels like it's rattling within its bore and I feel it through feedback in the wheel. The rack and rack bushings are fairly new / look okay.

Tierods feel tight, wheel bearing feel good, and my suspension (aside from the dampers themselves which are getting a bit sea-sick) appear to be in good nick.

Are there bushings within the column itself that could be bad that are allowing that shaft to move around?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

In short, Yes.

I don't know if the steering column has a set of bearing in the places where it is mounted, but I would probably check the u-joint first.
