Rear Badges
Mate that is a really good compilation. Thanks so much for putting in the time to put it together.
My 1985 XJS (5.3L V12 coupe) has the XJS and V12 (not the HE) on mine. My V12 badge is on the driver's side which is on the right in Oz. Not sure if it come out that way originally or was swapped out latter however I have heard that in that era it was a bit of a "whatever they had in the factory that day" kinda deal, and so I have seen some from that era with HE, some with V12.
Again, great list. Thanks again. Would be great with pics too!

Never had any badge fall off yet.
And use that bottle of IPA you have to clean up the paint work, don't apply any polish to the paint until after you mount the badges.

1990: 5.3L Rouge Collection Coupe. U.S. Only. The Rouge model featured a gold-colored version of the standard “XJ-S” badge for the driver side. The passenger side featured a black rectangular badge with gold “Rouge Collection” script.
1991: 5.3L Classic Collection Coupes and Convertibles. During 1991, both pre-facelift and facelift versions were available. Pre-facelift 1991 Coupes and Convertibles were branded the “Classic Collection,” and as such featured a rectangular black badge with gold “Class Collection” script on the passenger side. The driver side featured the standard silver “XJ-S” badge.

Thank you for the excellent information.
Just to add a bit of info, my 1990 Black XJS Convertible is a Collection Classic edition. I'm not sure when Jaguar began the Collection Classic versions but I can tell you that my 1990 is original with its black paint and CC badging.
Hope this helps.

my car must have come from a different planet(or something)!
it came over in 1986 from Kent England, papers with it.
NO rear badges except the one pictured, it is cast metal with porcelain/glass Union Jack on it and it is screwed on with SS screws.
also the hood(bonnet) had some stickon decals that said AMT, about 4" high, right in the middle of hood, anybody have any ideas on that?

interesting project,to say the least, but a one of a kind car, i have never seen another quite like it!
Just to throw another spanner in the works:
The Saint (season 2 Return of the Saint) had a GB (Great Britain?) on the LH side. Were any actually come out that way or was it just for the show?
By the way, here is the link here on the car/cars used in the TV series.

Did you try eBay... a genuine OEM one is listed right now...

Yea, I thought he was having trouble finding both of them and was wondering why since I routinely see both on eBay, many reproductions but also OEM NOS ones occasionally but today was just the one side.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the help but as per my posts earlier on in the week, I just took mine off and sent them away to be chrome dipped. I think It will look good when finished and match the chrome bumper. Ill be sure to post pics once I get them re-installed.

As another point of interest, I just found out in another thread from "Greg in France" that early build dates in 1985 had the HE badge, and the latter ones in the year had the V12.
Makes sense as mine is AUG 85 and has the V12. One of the other forum members has MAY 85 with a HE badge.
Interesting.

Got a picture from the Chrome Factory today.
My badges are finished and ready to be sent back upon payment. $143 including delivery. Not too bad I suppose....
Opinions guys:
I am thinking of painting the bits your not supposed to see on V12 badge to black. (As per the original)
I think this will stand out better. True?

They look absolutely FANTASTIC say I. Leave them all chrome! If they weren't so pricey I'd be sending some to them myself.
FWIW; on wheels, I think 5 spoke original starfish, or the 5 spoke 16 inch 'modern starfish' look best on XJS Coupés! If it was not so hard to get the 15 inch correct speed rated tyres, I would not have moved to the 16 inch modern versions!

Clarke actually that is a really good idea. I might go down that path for the background paint.
I wonder if Sapphire Blue Metallic would be hard for them to make up in a touch up can? I reckon it would look groovy
