Rear Caliper pistons 89 xjs
Ok, got everything cleaned up.
I'm placeing the piston seals on the pistons and notice that the lip on the piston side is about 1mm wider than the groove in the piston.
Have I gotten the wrong set of seals or is this common?
Everything else seems to be right.
TIA
Peace
Neil

what do you mean the piston side? Im guessing you probably just worded it wrong but it should be the same thickness throughout, not thicker or thinner on the inside where its up against the piston.
As i remember they fit very well.
There are the seals inside the caliper, and then the dust cover on the top which is actually on the piston and then around the caliper with the wire ring keeping it in place.
Thinking about when i did it about a year ago....i am assuming you are talking about how those covers fit in. Well, it really isn't any big deal but you can make them fit a bit better. That section is recessed so it shouldn't be a big deal but you just have to work it kind of weirdly. Mine fit on and part of them stuck out, you just have to try a combination of pulling on one side to make clearance and pushing the part you want in.
its definitely tricky but you can get it right!
