Default Rear suspension build

Hi Everyone

I am planning a re build of my rear end.....sounding like Cher there...will check springs ,dampers,(shocks) ect defo need new radius arm bushes which are loose with a hand at the moment!

My question is one of which parts to replace with, I will buy the bits from David Manners but what is the difference between an oe spring at £90 or a replacement at £22? I think with my lower mileage and sedate driving style will it make a lot of odds?

Price vs. quality is an oft discussed quandry.

Springs in particular can be a real problem. Over the years many have used aftermarket types and ended up with incorrect ride height.

More broadly speaking it's just difficult to really know what you are buying these days. Well known name brands are still a safer bet that "brand x" but even then there are no promises. Worldwide production facilities, label-engineering, and constantly changing corporate ownerships have added a lot of variables to the mix.

Cheers
DD

If David Manners sells them, then aftermarket springs will be OK, IMO. What I would mention, though, is that it IS worth paying for the proper metalastic bushes, rather than aftermarket ones. The real Jaguar ride and handling definitely needs them.

I am planning on dropping the rear end myself to do the differential seals, I had no idea that there was a difference in the radius arm bushings, I thought rubber was rubber, any other problems with aftermarket seals? Do guys use poly. in the radius arms or is this not a good idea?

I have seen poly RA bushes but I would stick with the rubber. Have you done diff seals in a Jag before - I will tackle almost anything but took one look and had my Jag guy do the Diff.

With Poly bushes in the Jag I would only use them in the rack NO WHERE ELSE. I still have poly in my upper front wishbone. When I rebuilt my front end late last year I left them in as they were not very old. BUT they had considerable wear in the tubes and will need replacing soon, BTW they have less than 20000km on them.

I will swap them out soon.
