Default rear windows won't go down '87

Guys,
It has been awhile since I contributed as I sold my '91 with 190,000 on the clock sometime ago.
I am looking at an '87 convertible, low milage but the rear window will not come up when the top is raised.
Some like a relay or such, any help or comments?
Thanks!

Are you waiting the requisite time? Remember that the rear windows will not start to rise until the switch has been pressed for 8 seconds.

Paul... is the time-delay applicable to all year conv models? My 93 had a cranky rt qtr window some yrs ago. Motor the suspect since operation would occur only when thumping the interior panel with my fist. As a "temporary" fix, I pulled the relays with qtr windows in the UP position to affect cold/wet weather driving. I replaced qtr windows relays after some months, but find neither operate. Comments?

Yes, the delay was always built into the ecu in order to ensure that the hood didn't catch the top of the windows when being raised. From my limited experience, most rear window problems seem to be related to either the wiring, the motor or the motor track, rather than the relays. And that's probably consistent with you getting them to work by thumping the rear quarter.

It's probably time to pull the interior trim and have a look. Perhaps start by running a direct current to the motor and see if that highlights a wiring problem. If not, it's probably a motor or track issue.

Cheers

Paul
