Default removing the antenna power unit on a 95

well I find myself in a position of having to remove the power unit for the antenna on my 1995 XJS because a piece of the cable is broken off inside it.
I have pulled the antenna mast and now i must get to the rest of the broken cable. How do I pull it out ?? and does it matter which way the teeth on the new cable point when I reinstall the new one ??
