Default Replacement ignition coil

Hi all,

Has anyone bought a replacement ignition coil for a 3.6, 6 cylinder XJS recently?

I noticed that mine was slightly out of spec a few years ago when I traced a misfire to a dodgy HT lead. Had some slight rough running recently and on rechecking the coil it has drifted further out of spec; primary resistance now 0.8 ohm (spec 0.45 - 0.65) and secondary resistance 7.5 k ohm (spec 5.4 - 6.4 k ohm). Car is a 1990 with AJ6 engine).

Genuine Bosch units are £100+ but there seem to be various Lucas alternatives around for about £30 but I cannot find any specs for the latter to confirm their resistance values. Has anyone fitted a Lucas or any other alternative coil?

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
LeeP

All I got for its worth,

20 odd years ago, XJ40 3.6, in our fleet.

Used a Fuelmiser CC215 "Universal Electrronic Ignition Coil", and its still there and the beast is as happy as a '40 could ever be.

Same coil I use on S3 6cyl and HE V12, nothing special at all.

Resist 0.75 Ohms, from memory. The cars all run, and run well, so I worry not.
