Default Replacing Oil Pressure Sender

Is it possible to replace the gauge sender without having to remove the throttle pedestal?

Anything else I should know?

Should be, but you'll want some leverage on the spanner to get the sender undone and nice and tight. The pedastal is easy to remove. 4 screws, 2 rods, a plug (or two).

I drilled holes through my pedestal so I could stick extensions through it, comes out easy. Even then I like pulling the sender using a crows foot.

Make sure your replacement is right. I recently bought one that turned out being metric thread, not even close to fitting.

l have a couple of home made crows feet for the job. One for sender and the other for the small cast manifold it screws into. You will have an issue if you don't use a backing spanner.

I've replaced three senders without backing them without issue, because I don't overtighten them. Nothing wrong with backing it if its previous torque was a mystery though.

The use of a second tool to ensure the undoing torque does not put a load on the aluminium casting the thing is screwed into. The casting can just snap off without support against the torque of undo the sender, if the sender is in tight.
