Should my clutch feel like this?
Hi everyone,
Car is a 1990, 5 speed manual with the 3.6 engine. I have just replaced slave and master cylinders and fully bled system after experiencing severe clutch drag. Both units were faulty especially the master cylinder (see separate posts).
I think my hydraulic system may have been failing for some time so I am not quite sure what a normal clutch should feel like on one of these cars. Difficult to measure exactly but my clutch pedal starts to bite about 1 inch above the floor and is fully engaged by about 60% of the full pedal movement. At rest the clutch pedal sits just slightly below the brake pedal.
The short travel distance between the clutch starting to engage and being fully engaged makes for a slick, smooth and quick change and everything seems to work fine with no resistance or crunches on the gear lever between changes. However, is this clutch behaviour normal for these cars? Would be really interested to hear from others with similar transmissions so I can judge if I have a 100% fix. All other comments welcome.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
LeeP
