no it just runs the brakes and has a big ball that does things but otherwise very different.

transmission in the 4.0 xjs is top notch it moves the car in the forward direction and also backwards

The tranny for the 95 and 96 4.0 AJ16 models used the ZF HP model trannys. For the brakes of the earlier years, it was similar to the Bosch system used in the 80s Audi 5000 where is uses a hydraulic pump to keep the high pressure side always pressurized. A combination of pump, pressure accumulator and servo valve/master cylinder and ABS controller make up the system and a special bleeding procedure is required.
