With the six speed I take it this car will see some, if any street use. Maybe it's already be mentioned (I missed it) about your fuel delivery system, tank etc., the suspension, IRS/diff mods & ratio ? BTW your workmanship is up & beyond ! IMO this engine is the way to go if you want to "make 500 HP" and WAY beyond for that matter.

melhookv12,

Great project and pics! I don't know if you've refurbed / rebuilt everything but you absolutely should change the valley coolant pipe under the 'charger before you put everything together!

Good luck

Very Nice, Man after my own heart. Is that a Supercharged 4.6? out of a Shelby? You are going the new school way with yours, I'm going old school. Ford 460 with about 650hp The one thing that's been brought to my attention about our XJS's, is the fact the rear end cage assembly, is just kinda sitting in place, LOL Seeing that yours appears to have been a race car at some point. I wonder how it has been addressed. I like the pics of the engine bay without the engine as I'm have some clearence issue's with the headers and wondered how far I could go cutting to make them fit. Excellent Job I will definitely watch your build with great interest. Cool Choice of Motors.

no valley pipes as such as not using a heater. see the blue silicon hose that runs under the charger to fill the block.

jaguar v8 4.0 litre.S/C

non standard jaguar rear suspension. fabricated lower wishbone bushes and fully adjustable for camber and toe.

ref clearance issues. bulkhead completely modified as the v12 sat further back. inner wings have been cut and made wider to accommodate the wider v8.

Have you got any diagrams or photos of what you have done at the rear please? Great project, looks beautifully executed too.

Jack, I also thought the engine was a US crate. My experience with the stock IRS & diff is the four rubber cage mounts pulling apart, I replaced with OEM mounts three times!! My stock diff is a Dana 44. Under normal use both should be fine, but the mounts still deteriorate & will break over time. Poly & solid mounts are whole other subject. Ron Brothers did a nice job to control wheel hop & diff mods

Wow they did do quite a bit of work on the rearend /cage, and securing it. I've done some sketching and measuring and my design is somewhat similar to what they have done so I think I'm headed in the right direction. i hope it's a better v8 then the 4.6 Ford. It looks quite similar. Jack

I'm not sure about the weight of the trans But I do know that the V12 weighs in at 700 lbs! I did some surfing when I was researching the swap of the 460. which is 720lbs. As I remember the Turbo 400 Chevy trans which is pretty much what the XJS has, was about 150 to 175 lbs? give or take a little bit. Hope it helps.

The sump was leaking oil, so rather than remove the engine I dropped the front subframe and cleaned it up. Oil leak fixed, front subframe back in.

Rear suspension next.....

Wow Cool Pics, and lots of them, Thanks for the Update I;m still paying attention. LOL!

I've made some head way on mine, and My firewall looks very nearly the same as yours. I'm using metal about twice as thick as Jaguar did, and I'm overlapping in most areas, and using plug welds over larger flat areas. So I'm doubling things in several places for added strength. and rigidity. It isn't pretty yet, but I'm building a Hot Rod First. Then we'll set out to make it pretty.
Good Luck with it.

Jack

Ok Mel, and ALL, I have to ask,,,

I have access to a 2004 supercharged 4.2 engine from an xkr... Would this work? Somehow, someway?

Without all the other AMAZING modifications, of course.

You guys a bleeeeping amazing with the things you do!
Deep bow, maybe I'll get there someday.

Me and my girl are looking at a house in the country with a 3 car garage AND a barn... Been looking at sail boats, 33footers, that go for under 4000$ sometimes. Best.Laid.Plans, lolololololololol 🤣
