Default Solid fuel line quest

Hi all guys!

How can I remove the full solid fuel line from the fitting on the right hand of the engine bay to the fuel tank?

Thanks!

Tommaso

This side (US passenger side) is the high pressure feed line from the pump. It is one solid pipe from a join just in front of the rear axle, and runs along the RHS floorpan beside the tunnel next to the brake pipe. It goes through the bodywork to the engine bay.

I suggest you proceed as follows:
  1. disconnect battery
  2. raise car on a ramp or similar so you can easily work under it
  3. crack open the line at the rear compression fitting join just in front of the axle, it is located on the inner side the rear chassis member. This will release any pressure.
  4. undo the other end where the engine bay flexible joins the solid pipe where it emerges from the bulkhead
  5. Attach a decent length of strong thin nylon cord to the engine bay end of the solid pipe
  6. Undo the clips along the botton of the floorpan holding the pipe (these may also hold the brake pipe and the attachment rivets may need drilling out). Some heat shielding may have to be detached to get at the exact area where the pipe goes into the bodywork
  7. Wiggle the pipe back through the bulkhead from below which will pull some of the cord through too
  8. Attach your new pipe to the cord and use the cord to help wiggle the pipe back through the bulkhead. This is not that easy as there is more than one bit of metal to get it through, so have someone else pull the cord through to help get the pipe into the engine bay
Good luck
Greg

Pipe #1 is the RH pipe I THINK you are trying to remove.

There is no fitting as such under the bonnet. The Hi-pressure fuel hose pushes over and is clamped.

The #3 is the known leaker that travels OVER the real cradle, and is easy, although fiddly, to get out. The double nut joiners are at the front and rear edge of the cradle.

Item #7 is the brass elbow, with one pipe nut fitting in the wheel arch, and the other inside the boot, behind the small sump tank (PITA to get at).

Pipe #1 is held to the underside of the car by plastic clips, item #15, and they break regularly.

That pipe gets damaged easily by mechanics/tyre fitters, NOT using the jacking points. I have seen that way too many times.
