Speedo Reading with 16 inch Wheels
OB,
As Greg says, those alloys are known as 5-spokes. There are 2 different types. The original ones were fitted to XJS from 93 (and also XJ40). They are painted and have a small groove across each spoke near the rim. The second series came out in April 94 and have no grudge. They have a diamond-cut spoke face with painted inner surfaces. I have these on my car. The same wheel was then chromed and offered as an option on the CeIebration models. In the UK, the chromed are rarest, followed by the diamond-cut. The grooved 93 wheels are the most available on the second-hand market.

Thanks!
Now I know what to look out for.
I changed the wheel tire combo on my 1970 Mustang from a 4in. x14 to a 15x7in. wheel and tire. I was running a 215x15ln. 60 series tire. I knew that the speedo was going to read fast. I used a cell phone app that uses GPS to give an accurate speed reading. I found that it read approx. 3 mph. faster below 45 mph. At 50 mph. it was reading 5mph. faster. I didn't measure the tires before hand or try to make any calculations.

Going back to the page I suggested earlier, using the 15" as "OEM", and the 16" as "Package 2" and using malc4d's sizes:
Suspension clearance: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)
Fenders clearance: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)
Wheelwells clearance: 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM)
SPEEDOMETER: When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 59.2mph (95.3km/h): 1.3% slower.
Hope this helps. I wish I could find some 16 inch lattice's, as I really like the look (though I loathe car-wash time). Modern Starfish it is.

The secret is to never let them get too dirty.
I use a slightly modified tooth brush to clean lattice wheels. I can do a wheel in 90 seconds. Practice, practice, practice.

But, if the dirt and brake dust is allowed to become caked-on....well...that's a different story.
Cheers

I always give mine a quick rinse with the Power Washer after a Trip.
To affect acceleration you need to change the tire's outer diameter, which may not be necessarily the case, read on.
Keep in mind that the diameter part of the tire size has everything to do with the part that matches the wheel, so a 15" tire is 15" at the edge that will wrap around the rim and only mildly affecting its outer diameter. Most of what affects the tire's outer diameter has to do with the rest of the tire's dimensions, such as basic tire size, as in 225 or 235, or 55 and 60, which represents the % that the side is from the width, which is the reason why a 55 tire would show a lower profile than a 60 tire because the side is only 55% of the width and so
forth. But I know that there are tables that include the final outer diameter for a given tire spec. The final conclusion would be that, no, a 16" tire is not necessarily one inch bigger than a 15" tire in outer diameter size.
When I got rid of my Lattice wheels, I actually went up 2" in diameter to the 17" Pirelli Pzero's.
But the fact that the new tire was a 245/50R17 low profile tire helped to fit it OK, albeit a little bit close, but then again, I was going up whole two inches. As a consequence, my odometer is about 5% slow.
Cheers,

Are you actually concerned about the size change itself, or may it be rather the fact that you will be putting the more modern Five Spoke face lift car wheels on your pre-facelift car and you're just not quite sure whether this amalgam won't go south on you? I have actually heard forum members here with the opinion that some wheels won't necessarily work the same on a pre-face lift car as they do on a face lift car because the subtle modernizing changes of the face lift XJS make it more receptive to more modern wheels. However, the Five Spoke wheel was designed for the XJS, so face lift or not, I think you'll love the way they'll look on your car. You can always look at picture galleries and there you'll probably find some pre-face lift car with Five Spoke wheels for your reference. In fact, I have actually seen here, in the Forum's gallery, a pre-face lift coupe with no less than the 17" Revolvers that I have on mine; I believe it is a silver coupe and, with those rims, he must have a lower profile tire for sure. Not that you're going in that direction, but it is at least a reference for you.
Cheers,
Hi Reinaldo
No offence intended but I just don't think the 5 Spoke Wheels would suit my pre-facelift Car as to me they just look wrong, being a mixture of Ancient and Modern design.
So unless the supply of 15 inch tyres runs absolutely dry, then I will be sticking with those on Lattice Alloys.
Having said that, I may consider putting on Chromium 5 Spoke, on my 95 XJS Celebration Convertible, in order that I can fully achieve the Celebration 'look'
Although the Wheels on this Car, were the alternative option of dished Alloys, which I also think suit the look of the 'Face Lift'

Pre-face lift XJS' with 5 spoke wheels are rare, yet you find a large number of them with very modern looking wheels.
I saw two pre-face lift cars with 5-spokes wheels, of which one has the TWR kit on it. Funny that there seem to be more pre-face lift estates with 5-spoke wheels rather than cars. For you to compare, I'm attaching pics of two cars and two Estates with these wheels. I absolutely respect your opinion and I only want to mention that I do find that these pictures do not show any bad mixture of Ancient and Modern that I can see, but more pictures help by giving you more info regarding your kitty's potential future looks.
And, just for your reference, I'm also attaching a beautiful dark blue pre-face lift coupe with the XK8 17" Revolvers and this one, too, looks really nice with no conflict of old and new, really, and not really different from what my own '94 chromed ones look.
Cheers,

I actually don't remember ever seen a pre-face lift XJS with the Five Spoke wheels on it, even when I've seen all kinds of wheels on pictures of pre-face lift cars. I have even seen several pre-face lift cars with the Revolver wheels, yet not seen one with the 5-Spoke ones. Hmm, now I'm curious
They look fantastic on a pre-facelift, depending upon the colour. Mind you, I am biased...
