Steering Rack part number help needed
Could someone help me solve steering rack part number mystery.
From catalog part seem to be CBC1720N (oil filled) or CBC1720E (empty) - cant find anyone selling by this part number.
Rockauto suggests ACDELCO 36R0608 or 19320706 - which does seem like correct replacement although I can't find someone clearly cross-referencing it to CBC1720.
The currently installed rack has BE 20500 stamped on it. Also can't find anyone selling it.
Does anyone have cross/reference information to other manufacturers?

If you go to this link and expand the LHD rack tab, you get all the part numbers that will fit
https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/u...nion-3-6-litre
https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/u...nion-3-6-litre
That translated to :
CBC4649
CCC4797N
CCC5667N
CCC6017N
Any idea how I can cross-ref them to manufacturer part numbers by other manufacturers like BECK/ARNLEY or ZF or ACDELCO? I can't really find anyone selling these racks under these part numbers.

In principle, any XJS rack will fit any model, regardless of age or model. The thread on the track rod balljoints changed to metric in the mid 1980s, so the worst problem you could have is changing them, and possibly changing the P/S hoses of the threads on them were different.
You could also get your rack rebuilt.

Newer years have different mounting in pictures, and the part numbers are all different. It's kinda risky to order one without assurance that it fits. I was hoping someone with similar model did replacement and can share part number used.
I am looking for a place to get it rebuilt. A shop 3 hrs away already responded saying they can do it same day, hope to find one closer.
Thank you.

The rack fixings to the subframe are identical on all XJS models. A rebuild is a good decision.

For a rebuild, try Coventry West in Atlanta, they are well respected Jag rack rebuilders.
