Default Rack rebuild

I had exactly the same problem a year ago. My XJS only had 116000 on the clock so I thought a seal kit would suffice. Unfortunately after dismantling we found the rack shaft was excessively worn. I had to have a local company hardchrome & grind the shaft then reassemble & pressure test the completed rack. Ended up being a $1000 job. Bad experience all round.
