Hi guys,

New owner of a 1993 XJS 4.0 in Montreal, Canada. I have two questions about stereo wiring. Hopefully someone can help out.

1. Stereo Main Plug:

Other than the speaker wires (which are labeled on the car side), I have 4 wires (see attached pic):

- Purple
- White/blue
- White/Red
- Yellow/Green

According to the wiring diagram in the service manual, I should see:

- Purple/orange (radio and telephone tranceiver)
- White/blue (power ignition)
- Purple (radio memory)
- Red / pink (not sure...)

I'm a little confused here and have trouble figuring things out. Can someone help me identifying the wires that I have on my stereo plug?

2. Power Antenna:

The power antenna is defective (doesn't retract). I've pulled out the unit (eventually I'll try to repair it) and replaced it with a Hirschman manual version. The power antenna was grounded to the chassis, behind the RH tail light. Am I going to have a grounding issue if I just leave the power antenna 3-lead connector (purple/white/black wires) and ground lead disconnected?

Found the answer to my first question. Anyone knows which service manual this diagram comes from and where can I download/purchase it?

 

I use a subscription for alldatadiy.com. They do a great job on electrical diagrams. Not as good on other items. Some say it's too expensive at $27.00/yr but I've been happy with it. I have a number of cars and it's less costly to add them.
