Default Thermostat translation help please

I want to replace my thermostats. Ive read the thermostat fiasco document. I've spent most of the day trying to find data on thermostats. I'm looking for any way to reliably order a Tstat from a US source that matches the suggested "Tridon No TT228-180 or Dayco No DT24A."

Does anyone know of a source that's known to open to the proper 41mm? No one lists this spec, even dayco.

Those appear to be non-existent in the USA

I got two EBC3576 thermostats from Terrys Jaguar. I'm sure others sell them as well. Waxstat brand, Jaguar box and part number, correct specs as per Grant's write up

Cheers

I was having a bit of trouble with mine not coming up to temp so I changed the thermostat in my 95 6 cyl. I just ordered one from Car Quest and it was made in Germany. Came with the O ring too. Got it in and everything is great as it should be. Comes up to temp and stays in the normal range.

I went with a Meyle branded thermostat for my 96.

I did indeed pull out the original Waxstat when I replaced it. The Waxstat seemed more beefy than the Meyle I installed.

The Meyle was an OEM to the Benz at the time, so I assumed it would be quality. It did NOT come with the gasket.

I have had no temp issues.

I found these Motorad 180 degree high flow thermostats. I bought them but haven't put my car on the road yet. I did do a hot water in a pan comparison with the ones from Terry's and I can say the Motorad's open faster and wider. They don't seem hard to get.

They do have a jiggle pin but I drilled an additional hole in the outside flange because the one on the Motorad is moved inward. Maybe not necessary but just a precaution.

The strange thing is that when I removed the old thermostat from the car and put it in boiling water it opened and closed. It did not work to good in the car. Glad I changed it.
